Daddy's on a Campout

I always get anxious when I know Mike isn't going to be home at night. . . even if it is just an overnight camp out with the scouts. I planned some fun activities to make Friday night go by a little quicker, for us staying at home.

First on our agenda was making chocolate suckers. Isaac was excited for this project and was ready for Mike to leave, because he knew that's when we would start making candy. Yes, it was a little messy, but cleanable! Not to mention we all enjoyed licking off our fingers at the end!

We spent the rest of the evening enjoying the nice weather. Painting with sidewalk paint, going on a walk, and playing in the garage. I have no idea why, but that's the kids' favorite place to play. Kind of grosses me out because it's always dusty and I just know there is a spider lurking around somewhere. . . Luckily I had little helpers to sweep out the garage. They both took turns pushing around the broom.

Sidewalk painting is almost a daily event at our house. It is just like sidewalk chalk just in paint form. For those worried about getting dirty, it comes off clothes VERY EASILY! I switched to paint because I was sick of Ainsley eating chunks out of the chalk. . . of course today she had to take a taste of the paint as well. Why wouldn't she, seeing as EVERYTHING goes into her mouth!

We had pizza delivered to us and watched us some Disney Channel, got bathed, read stories and went to bed. We all survived Daddy being gone, and even had fun! Maybe I should stop getting myself so worked up about the nights Mike has to be gone. . .

Oh girl! Dont worry Im awful when Matt is gone. When he left for Arizona back in Jan for a business trip I was a MESS. I cryed and Cryed a few of the nights I had to stay with my parents. I hate being alone. Least you have kids to some what keep you company. So I understand I get all worked up to. And one night some Guy was knocking on my door so of course I freak out. Come to find out it was my neighbor but I was not going to open the door.

I am with you I hate when Michael is gone (my Michael that is :) I have only done one night alone with me and Hunter and well that was enough for me. I am such a baby, at least the other time I stayed home alone you guys lived across the street, so I knew there was someone close by. As for kids & messes I told you about that article in the ensign, there was the quote that "we are making memories, I can clean the mess later." What a fun project!

I think that sucker idea sounds really fun. I love the idea of cooking with Ryanna (you're way brave to let Ainsley get involved), but I find myself getting impatient. That is one of my biggest weaknesses is my impatience. I really need to work on it.
Glad you planned fun activities. I'm sure that helped the time go by much more quickly.

That looks like such a fun project Brooke! I LOVE the first and last photos of Ainsley....you did a rockin' job on catchlights. And of course, the blue lips are just perfect. :)

You should totally join this flickr group. There are thousands of people in it, so it's not like you have to feel bad if you miss a day, and you are allowed to retroactively upload (I think you can post up to 40 a month if you're playing catch up, 3 per day or something like that).

I just started on the yellow week, but you can start wherever you feel like. A lot of people are doing a different list now, so you won't see a ton of stuff that's the same. Anyway, I'd love to have a friend doing it with me.

Here's the link to the group: Project 365 on Flickr

I commend you for letting your kids get so dirty!! That first picture of Ainsley makes me itch!! Looks like they both had fun and in the end, that's all that matters!
I hate when Chris is away...he was away alot more before kids, with him being in the military and all back then, now I can only count a few times that we have been apart...and usually it's me leaving him to go home to La.
I bet you were happy to have him home..I hate sleeping in a empty bed!!

Oh scout campouts! Don't get me started! :) Looks like you all had fun though! I totally remember making chocolate suckers when I was little and had forgotten all about it! I might have to do that one of these days. Brynlie has been in to sidewalk paining lately also but I am not as fun as you! I just give her a paint brush and a bucket of water. It fools her for now but I might have to invest in some paint soon!

That is too funny! My boys love to play in the garage too... I don't know what it is, but I am also paranoid about bugs in the garage. Maybe since we killed a scorpion in our house a few months ago... yuck! Love your pictures, you do a great job!

Brooke, those pictures are so cute. I wish it would get spring here. It has snowed 3 times this week! This weekend it is supposed to be in the 70's so I am looking forward to it. Call me sometime.
