"Embrace your geekness"
A geek is an individual who is highly intelligent (brainy) and technically oriented. They are most often associated with the computer, and computer systems world. A geek is usually formal, studious and into his technical world, often to the exclusion of all else. A geek is closely related to a "Nerd". A nerd however, may or may not possess technical expertise.
Upon looking at this definition of "geek", I have determined that I would not fall under that category, I would more likely fall under the "nerd" group. I am happily married to a "geek" though.
I have never seen anyone navigate a computer so quickly. I believe his job title was (when working for his dad) was web master. I tried once to understand HTML. . . not happening. It takes someone special to understand such language.
Michael is also an electrical engineer. So between the computer and things he is doing at work I can get a headache trying to understand what is going on.
An example of how well I understand computers:
Michael is always looking at new computers and talks of getting one at least weekly. One time I asked what he was looking for in a computer, and what was wrong with the one we have. What I heard was "Blah blah blah desktop. Blah blah blah CD-R. Blah blah blah something about network cards, modems, things about hard drives. I don't want one with "cellulite". . . and something about a mothership." I also know there are sound cards in there too.
Really forever I could only remember the words mothership (which really turns out to be a motherboard) and cellulite (which is something to do with celeron, still not too clear on this really is).
I am proud to admit that I am one BIG nerd and in love with one BIG geek!!!

100 THINGS
After reading a lot of people's 100 things, and finally having a few minutes to myself I thought I would start my list and see how it goes. . .
One Hundred Things You may Or May Not Know About Me.
1. I HATE bugs, all bugs.
2. When I was young I LOVED bugs and would catch all kinds in jars.
3. I am deathly afraid of the ocean.
4. I love the smell of rain in Arizona.
5. I got a silver medal in a tennis competition in high school.
6. I used to play the viola and piano.
7. I love to read. I have tried to limit myself to reading only before bed and when lying down with the kids for their nap time. Otherwise nothing gets done until I finish the book.
8. I have always wanted to drive a Toyota 4runner.
9. First thing I do every morning while Isaac is eating his breakfast is, check my e-mail and then my bank account.
10. My favorite time of year is the fall. I look forward to seeing the seasons again, now that I am not in Phoenix anymore.
11. I am not a picky eater at all. I will try anything at least once.
12 I think the only food I KNOW I don't like is any kind of watermelon flavored candy. . . I love watermelon though!
13. I have discovered that I love to cook. Michael now gets to put up with my trying new recipes and inventing my own.
14. I always say my favorite color is purple, but really I don't think I have one.
15. I had to have my tonsils taken out when I was 23.
16. I don't like going on road trips
17. I like to go camping.
18. I can't jump into a swimming pool without plugging my nose first.
19. I actually try to avoid swimming, I would rather sit on the side and watch.
20. I like people watching.
21. I am a homebody, and would rather be at home with my family then out doing things.
22. I like trying new restaurants.
23. I tend to be more of a vegetarian eater. I LOVE VEGGIES!!!
24. If I do order any kind of meat it has to be cooked all of the way! NO PINK whatsoever!
25. I like reading or watching anything Jane Austen.
26. I like doing workout videos. There's this hip hop ab one that I want to try.
27. I hate running, but wished I liked it.
28. I like watching infomercials, especially the workout ones (where I saw the ab video).
29. I talk to my mom and sister at least once a week, sometimes everyday.
30. I normally talk on my cell phone while driving (naughty, I know).
31. I don't like to wear lotion because I don't like how it feels on the palms of my hands.
32. I like using a clean towel every time I get out of the shower.
33. My favorite shows on tv are American Idol, Reba, a lot of shows on the cooking channel, TLC and HGTV.
34. I like to wear Mike's clothes around the house. . . therefore making Lindsey wanting to nominate me for TLC's What Not to Wear.
35. I don't like listening to music in the car.
36. I like Disney movies (like High School Musical, Cow Belles), laugh if you will, but it's true!!
37. I don't like drinking water when I am at home.
38. BUT water is my favorite drink to get at resturants!
39. I became a complete germaphobe after having children.
40. I don't like brushing my teeth, but can't sleep until they are brushed.
41. I have a serious addiction to buying my kids clothes.
42. I like scrapbooking.
43. I am afraid of the dark.
44. I like cooking more than baking.
45. I bleached my hair for a whole decade.
46. My hair is now it's natural color, and I like it.
47. I have a soft spot in my heart for animals.
48. When I was young I wanted to be a zoo keeper.
49. I was once a bill collector and hated the job, but still cried after quiting.
50. I still am trying to figure out what I want get a college degree in.
51. I have classes toward nursing, education, psychology, marriage and family counseling.
52. I have morning sickness the entire nine months of pregnancy.
53. I do not like sharks, they really freak me out.
54. I would rather watch movies at home than in a theater. That way I can eat whatever I want, and have control of the volume.
55. One of my favorite parts of summertime growing up was catching fireflies.
56. I love the night sky, learning constellations, and the mythologies about them.
57. I like eating my sandwiches with potato chips smashed in them.
58. I like going to baseball games and eating hot dogs with mustard.
59. I like watching all sports.
60. The only thing I like about the cold is drinking hot cocoa, and normally it means Christmas lights come on.

63. I have been in one car accident, and have gotten three tickets for not completely stopping at stop signs.

69. I like to organize things, so getting settled into our new house has taken awhile. . . I get to clean everything and put it into a place (I actually really enjoy the process).
70. I got my first pedicure when I was pregnant with Ainlsey and I am now hooked.
71. I once had my sister help me cut off a mole from my stomach with a pair of scissors.
72. I love Christmas carols.
73. I get really grossed out when there is hair in my food. To the point where I will not eat my food only if there is just one bite left when the hair was found, or if it was the first bite, I just don't eat. Really bad right now since my hair falls out after having babies.
74. My feet have grown a full half size since having children.
75. I once pierced my own ears with a needle and ice.
76. One time I had a wart on my knee and burned it off with dry ice.
77. I love movies with Audrey Hepburn or with Doris Day.

Proud to be an American
We had a good Fourth of July this year. I was afraid Isaac was sick because he threw up all over Ainlsey earlier in the day, yes disgusting, I know! But he was just fine. Probably just too much chocolate milk. . .
Anyway we went swimming at the Holgate's, had a bbq, watched a movie and did fireworks. Nothing fancy, just some small things that Isaac would enjoy. And enjoy them he did. Maybe next year we will do a little more. . .
The Grass Is Greener
Our "new house" (as Isaac calls it), is a nice little home. To be quite honest though I wish I could pick it up and take it to Arizona. I do have to admit though Texas is very pretty. GREEN GREEN GREEN. A big change from where we were in Arizona.
Our move in is coming along very slowly, but it is getting there. The kids rooms are done, and the guest bedroom is next. Perfect timing too, because my family is coming out this weekend (which is speeding up my urge to get settled in).
I will be posting pictures of rooms soon, our own little virtual tour of our home if you will.

It's Raining. . . It's pouring. . .
It's been awhile, and there is so much to write I don't quite know where to begin. The Mortensen's know reside in Celina, TX. We are slowly but surely making our new house a home. Slowly being the key word, I knew it wouldn't be fast, but I didn't realize it would be such a slow going with two young children. . . oh well we will get there.
I guess I can start with our last week in Arizona. We (Michael's side of the family) all went to a water resort in phoenix and had a lot of fun. Isaac was especially sad to leave. Who wouldn't be, we slept in every morning until ten, ate out for every meal, went swimming every evening. Basically it was lots of fun (thanks grandpa Mortensen!).
Here's a picture of the kids watching cartoons at the hotel, Isaac thought it was great that he could stay in bed!!

The time did come unfortunately that we had to say good bye to sunny Arizona. The airport wasn't quite as nerve wracking as I thought it would be. The worst part was the plane ride, not so much ride either really, but sitting there waiting for the plane to take off. We were told that the Dallas Airport was not letting planes in and planes were not leaving because of the weather (a small glimpse of what was to come).
We were on the airplane for four hours, when it is normally a two hour flight. The kids were amazingly good and only starting getting ants in their pants 30 minutes before we were actually able to take off. Then they both slept for the two hours it took to get to Dallas.
We arrived to Texas in the rain and that is how it's been every day since.
Okay this post was started on Sunday, it is now Tuesday so for now I will have to say

Little Wayneslie
People have told me that Ainlsey looks just like her Grandpa Wilkins. I didn't really see it until this past week. One morning after breakfast, Grandpa was holding her and the resemblance was undeniable. She really was a mini Wayne. I tried to get a good picture, later in the week, but as luck would have it she wasn't in the mood to cooperate. The pictures turned out cute though.
Since I am on the subject of Ainlsey I would like to say how much I love this little girl. I wasn't exactly looking forward to a little girl, I had been having so much fun with a little boy, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. Although she is a little more expensive (I have a serious shopping addiction when it comes to little girl clothes), but she is such a blessing in our home.
Ainsley has such an easy going personality and loves to smile and laugh. She definitely is a momma's girl (which I LOVE), but she also is quite the fan of her older brother. She can sit and watch Isaac for hours, smiling the entire time. Ainsley is not a child who is content lying on her back, while the rest of us go about our day, but loves to be sitting up, seeing the world as the rest of us see it. When lying on her back she strains and tries so hard to sit up on her own.
We recently bought Ainsley a bumbo. The look on her face was one I will never forget. At two and a half months old I have never seen a baby so proud of herself. She was able to sit up on her own, and she loved it. I didn't have the camera with me the first time she sat in the chair, but here's a picture of my big girl!
These first few months have flown by and I can't believe how quickly she has grown. When Isaac was a baby I couldn't wait for each new milestone to be reached, and sadly wished away his baby days. Now I realize that time goes by way too quickly, and I know she too will soon be an independent toddler wanting to do everything "by myself" as Isaac so frequently requests. So for right now, my goal is to make every minute count that I have with this little baby girl. I love you, Ainsley Rose.
